Pick of the Week

Regarding this week's topic, I suppose, even how insignificant an invention is, it is still an invention. Like this one I found. It is a toothbrush. A type of toothbrush. Sure, everyone knows what a toothbrush is. However, usually, we have to set it down and it gets dirty if we don't take care of it properly, am I right?
Well this one, only catches spores in the air, because it has some kind of balance at the bottom of it to make it stand up. Either way, it's still has a pretty good purpose.

Week 2: Why the Categories? I Mean, Boundary Breakers?

This week, I somewhat learned on what creativity truly is and what happens to people who use their creativity to good use, like Leonardo Da Vinci or Jason Pollock. Da Vinci was awesome. He painted Mona Lisa, and even invented some things, like the idea of the propeller. I suppose, Jason Pollock is cool, too, even if his work is just arranged splats of paint. It is creating something truly original, no matter how big or how small, and make it functional. However, I did not really like the idea that we are separated, or categorized. I mean, most of us are the aesthetic organizers. Who does not want to be the Boundary Breakers, like the Leonardo Da Vincis and the Copernicuses? Or at least be Inventors. I have always thought one day I would be able to do something that would put me in the Inventors' category, since almost nothing is original anymore in this world. So, that's the least I could do. However, at the pace that I am going, sometimes I wonder if I would even be able to come close to that hope.
Gotta work harder, then.

Pick of The Week

My favorite form of art has always been sketches. I would browse through the internet for awesomely detailed ones, such as pencil artist Paul Lung's photo-realistic sketches, or even a messy, arranged one like produced by Rembrandt Von Rijn.

Week 1: Is Creativity Just For Artists, Or For Everyone?

This week's lesson was regarding creativity. What is creativity? I've never really understood what it means. I mean, you know when there is something that you are sure that you know of, but do not know how to explain it verbally? Creativity is like that. I decided to just look up the definition in my Mac computer's Dictionary. According to it, creativity is...
"noun:the use of the imagination or original ideas, esp. in the production of an artistic work."
I do not think it is truly fair. Ideas have never come easy for me. I try to come up with ideas, but it gets so frustrating to me to the point that I feel depressed thinking why I cannot come up with anything when I really need it.
So, I agree with what was being explained this week, that creativity isn't just for people majoring in Arts and Designs or whatnot. I need to find my niche, my inspiration, but so far, I have not felt too- great passion towards the things that I have been doing. I want it to be in the field of Arts. I know that it is. I just have not found it. However, I am also afraid that when I do find it, it is not something I or other people should or have always found weird or scary or controversial.

Vitae

Introduce myself? Fine. My name is Mandy Izz. That is not my real name, just a sort of pseudonym, but I do prefer people just calling me Mandy. My real name is Amanda Putri Aviani. I go to MultiMedia University, and I am a BETA year student in the Faculty of Creative Multimedia, majoring in...Animation Design.
Why CreatiVitae? Simple enough. 'Vitae' is latin for 'life'. My life is and has to be filled with it, whether I choose to, I want to, I need to, or not.
